About the artist
My work is rooted in the tactile, the traditional, and the transformative. As a multidisciplinary artist, I work primarily in pyrography, watercolor, and dimensional mixed media. Wood is central to my creative process—not just as a surface, but as a living material with memory. Each slab, grain, knot, and edge carries a story of its own. I don’t see myself as covering it, but as collaborating with it. My marks become part of that ongoing narrative.
I am passionate about the permanence of wood—the way it endures, holds heat, and anchors a space. Many of my pieces become centerpieces in homes, places where people gather and connect. That matters deeply to me. The handmade nature of each work, combined with the unique character of the wood itself, becomes a conversation piece—an invitation for storytelling, curiosity, and presence.
Creating is also a reflection of my heritage—Filipino, Irish, and American—and the values of craft, resourcefulness, and meaning that have shaped me. Whether I’m burning intricate designs into live edge slabs or layering watercolor across textured grain, I seek connection: between tradition and innovation, artist and material, viewer and work.
Exhibiting across North Carolina, I aim to bring art into shared, everyday spaces—museums, churches, sidewalks, taprooms—places where people can encounter it naturally, without pretense. I want my work to be both grounded and personal, tactile and enduring.
Art, for me, is fire and grain—discipline and warmth. It’s about listening to the material, honoring where it came from, and creating something lasting that others can live with, talk about, and make their own.
